TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
THE NWS HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY FOR OUR AREA. This is posted on the WX Alerts page in the drop down menu on the website.
..As of 5am, light rain is beginning to fall across the area. Thick Fog and wet roads are to be expected along the Rim and front side of the mountain today. Be sure to use your headlights today.
.. An area of Low pressure is currently moving into the SoCal region as of 5am. Rain and gusty winds will be the forecast for today. Rain possibly heavy at times will bring from .50-1.00″ of rain locally. The South and West facing slopes will see the greatest amount of moisture due to Orographic lifting. Talk of snow will be minimal as the freezing levels will be at or about the 8000′ level for most of the day. As the Front passes, cold air will follow lowering the freezing levels to around the 6500-7000′ level however, little if any moisture will be available for snow production. Only the highest peaks will have a chance for a dusting of snow. If a Thunderstorm should develop, Hail and or snow pellets could fall in the affected areas causing poor driving conditions at much lower elevations. As always in the mountains, you need to be prepared for the possibility of rapidly changing weather conditions.
..Friday, we will have clearing skies with morning fog again along the Rim. All of this will clear out by Friday afternoon and Saturday, which should be a nice day.
..Sunday and Monday, another area of Low pressure will push through SoCal bringing another chance for more rain and unsettled weather. These systems will have a weak AR associated with them helping to add to their moisture content. PWAT levels will actually be pretty high for this time of year running at around ~1.00″.
..On the long range outlook, another system will possible for mid week.
..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! *RC
