Happy Cinco de Mayo.
TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..First off, there is a new camera view of Waterman canyon or the bottom portion of Hwy 18 that is day or night visible on the webcam page. Thank you to AirSites2000.com for that. Also, happy Cinco de Mayo!
.. This morning as seen on the new webcam of Waterman canyon, Fog is around the 1500′ level as of 6am.
..Today we will have mostly clear skies and cooler temperatures as we transition to a stormy pattern for the next 5-7days. Gusty winds will pick up later today and increasing cloud cover by late this afternoon or early evening. Tomorrow’s morning drive will include fog along the Rim and on the local HWY’s so plan a little extra time for that.
..The Cut Off Low to our West is currently about 400 miles off shore, and will move onshore around Point Conception later today. Rain will accompany the Low to our North as it skirts Central California Coast.
..Then the Low will slide South along the Coast arriving in SoCal early tomorrow morning. This will bring in a deeper Marine layer as well as a chance for light showers Monday. Looking at the GLM on the Goes satellite this morning, there is currently no lightning associated with this Low. However, as the Low moves West then South, daytime heating will build, and there will be a slight chance for Thunderstorms to develop. Tomorrow over SoCal we will continue to have a slight chance for a T-Storm locally, mainly during the afternoon hours. Rainfall amounts from this system are expected to be from .10-.50″ for our local area. The greater amounts will be if a T-Storm develops adding rainfall to that area.
..Snow levels will be lowering to around the 6500-7000′ level at times Monday, so some areas may receive a light dusting, however, due to the warm road surfaces it’s not likely that there will be any accumulation on the roads. Also, as always with T-Storms, Hail, and strong outflow winds associated with those storms will be possible, along with brief heavy rain. So be aware of your surroundings and take shelter if a T-Storm moves into your area. As Summer and Monsoon Season gets closer, these are practices to be aware of. *RC
..The rest of the week we will have cooler temperatures along with a couple chances for a rain shower as another Low moves through SoCal Thursday and again over the weekend. Long Range, there are a couple more possibilities down the road with a chance for Sub Tropical influence.
That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! *RC
