On Friday, July 26th, a vehicle was heading towards Big Bear on Highway 18 when it lost control and crashed into the guardrail. The vehicle lost its wheel, which caused the vehicle to spin into the opposing lane.
The accident backed up traffic on Highway 18 throughout Running Springs. The driver sustained no injuries, but was taken to the hospital. The accident may have been caused by medical reasons; however, the accident is still under investigation. The fire department and CHP were quickly on scene to control traffic, clean up the accident, and ensure that those involved were taken care of.
