On Thursday afternoon at 12:39 pm, the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire Battalion Chief 127 and Medic Engine 227 responded to reports of a vehicle on fire. The incident occurred near a turn out on the up-bound side of Highway 18, approximately one mile below Upper Waterman, in the San Bernardino Mountains.

The involved vehicle was a silver Dodge Intrepid. The engine fire was out before fire units arrived, although extra precaution was taken by firefighters on Medic Engine 227. The crew used fire extinguishers to make sure there was no remaining hot spots under the hood.

The occupants of the vehicle, one woman, her child and dog were all safe, with no injuries reported, as stated by fire personnel.
