San Bernardino County Sheriffs Respond to Bank Robbery Alarm in Running Springs

At 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, a silent alarm indicating a bank robbery in progress, summoned a full response from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff radio traffic indicated 211 silent alarm as the call out for that dispatch.

Deputies from across the mountain responded, lights and sirens. Upon arrival the sheriff deputies used a bull horn to order everybody out of the bank with their hands up. Moments later, bank employees emerged with their hands up and explained what happened.

According to a statement from a bank employee, the bank is having a new alarm system installed. A maintenance worker was testing a component of the alarm system without first disabling the system. This triggered the alarm and promoted the response from Law Enforcement.

There were no injuries reported during this incident.
