At 11:27 am on Thursday, June 13th, a minor traffic accident occurred on Highway 18 at mile marker 35.5. This is located in an area between Running Springs and Snow Valley Ski Resort known as “13 Curves.”

According to CHP scanner transcriptions, a CalTrans vehicle and a big rig collided for unknown reasons in a very sharp turn. There was hardly any noticeable damage caused by the collision itself to either vehicle. The CalTrans vehicle pulled to the shoulder yet the big rig remained in traffic, blocking lanes. The line of cars not able to go around became backed up after the big rig driver refused to move his vehicle out of traffic lanes. The California Highway Patrol dispatcher reportedly told the CalTrans employee to instruct the big rig driver to move multiple times but he allegedly ignored the CalTrans employee. Caltrans called CHP back for an ETA on an officer to arrive at the scene.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol arrived on scene shortly thereafter and the roadway was immediately cleared. There were no reports of injuries at press time. This accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and no official cause of the accident has been released yet.
