CSD Trash Truck Catches Fire In Sugarloaf

At 11:48 AM October 28th a CSD employee called 911 to report Smoke coming from the bed of his trash truck. The truck was located at 417 Sunset Lane in Sugarloaf. The call was cancelled stating the fire was out. Medic engine 283 continued response and arrived on scene to find the trash truck still smoldering. Fire Fighter Bidwell climbed up on the back of the truck and immediately started putting water on it with the help of Captain Jayne. The fire was knocked down in less then 5 Minutes. CSD supervisor arrived on scene and advised the driver to drive to dump station to dump load. The fire department offered to follow truck to make sure there wasnt any active fire. Big Bear Fire department would like to remind visitors and residents hot ashes are not to be thrown in dumpsters. Ashs can remain hot for several days and mixed with trash can cause a devastating outcome.
