Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Accident on Highway 330 Results in Fatality

Published by Raymond Ray

At 6:38 pm, 911 dispatchers began receiving reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. The location given was mile marker 33, above Highland on State Route 330 near the lower passing lane. Witnesses at the scene report that this was a hit and run and this has been confirmed by officials. There is no vehicle description or details on the suspect.

The exact nature and details of the accident is unknown at this time. Highway 330 had just reopened after a major landslide had caused major delays, stopping traffic in both directions. As of 6:50 pm, San Bernardino County Fire and the California Highway Patrol were still enroute to the scene.

Upon arrival, Highway Patrol Units established a scene. The roadway was closed in both directions and San Bernardino Police was summoned to the scene as this was in their jurisdiction. At 7:30, the coroner was enroute to the scene.

Bystanders used vehicles to block traffic around the body until CHP Units arrived on scene. Motorists are advised to use a different route. Highway 18 and Highway 38 are good alternates at this time. Mountain Reporter has correspondents on scene and broadcasting live on the Mountain Reporter Facebook Page. This article will be updated as further details are released. CHP is currently requesting that if anyone saw anything during the accident to please call them.

  2. Why are there never any follow up for us mountian folks that care about what happens up here?? In November I was behind the solo truck roll over fatality and never heard anything after the initial report. I pass by the scene daily and would love to be able to say a prayer for that person and have closure for me.

  3. Whoever did this please have a heart and turn yourself in. I’m sure it was just an accident and you panicked but this will haunt you forever and the family needs closure. My nephew was killed by a hit and run driver 14 years ago and to this day we have no answers or closure. Prayers for the victim and to you also.

  4. I am his brother, I live in Florida. His name is Dwayne Kyle Hugunin, Age 50, of Apple Valley. I personally would like to view undoctored footage. I would also like any updates to this story. God bless my brother.

    • Our deepest condolences on your family’s tragic loss. Anything other than what we’ve released would have to be obtained from law enforcement.
